Subject: Baklava, Bellies and next… Empty Bowls!
The First Annual Baklava Bake Off was held at First Sunday in downtown Pittsboro. This event was sponsored by the Pittsboro Merchants Association and Angelina’s Kitchen!
Everyone enjoyed the tasting and this year’s First place went to Muriel Eylers of Ruby’s Recipes with Angelina’s Kitchen coming in with a close second. (you may find Muriels delicious Baklava each Thursday at the Pittsboro Farmers Market.) Other entries included, Chatham MarketPlace, Leslie Fesperman and Our Neighborhood School Pizzeria! Thanks to all who came out and sampled and judged the goodness. (Get ready for September 2010!) Everyone seemed to really enjoy the belly-dancers from Durham!!!
Next month’s First Sunday Event will include the “Empty Bowls ” fundraiser for the CORA Food Pantry. If you would like to donate a handmade bowl please drop it off at Vespertines in downtown Pittsboro before Saturday October 3rd. Music and demonstrations will be part of
the next event with details coming out soon!
