Heads Up! Therapeutic Riding Program is offering two Horsemanship Skills Daycamps this summer.

If you have a horse crazy child who needs to sign up for activities for the summer we still have some openings available.  The camp will be held at our facilities off 902 just two miles outside of Pittsboro.  The hours for the full day camp the week of June 15 are 9:00 am-4:00 pm.  This week is for campers 8-14 years of age with some horse experience.  A half day camp for the younger children is being held the week of June 22 and the hours are from 9:00 am-1:00pm.  This week is for children 4-7 years of age.  The cost for the full day camp the week of June 15 is $300 per camper and the half day camp the week of June 22 will be $150 per camper.

We will be teaching horsemanship skills from the ground up including grooming, tacking, basic horse care and feeding, routine horse and stable maintenance and arena and trail riding.  Horse activities will be led by one of our NARHA certified instructors and 3 dynamic young instructors who work regularly within our program and have wonderful skills with children of all ages and types of disabilities.  We have a number of great guest speakers lined up as well as visiting local artists to assist with art projects.   We promise your child will return home each day bursting with newly learned horse knowledge, news of new friends made, both human and equine, tired, dirty, and most of all happy!

Your child will need to pack a bag lunch most days.  We will provide drinks and healthy snacks.  A hotdog lunch will be provided on the Friday of each week.  Campers will need long pants and boots with a hard sole and heels for riding and riding helmets if they have them.  We also have a number of helmets on site if they do not have their own.  Please send campers with a change of clothes such as shorts and lightweight tee-shirts to change into for non-riding activities, swimsuits and flipflops for water activities, and insect repellent and sunscreen.

Call Valerie or Karen at 542-6207 for more information.  Check out our website at www.headsuptrp.org.  Come join us and our wonderful ponies and horses for a week of summer fun!
