Subject: Traffic Circle Danger
I would like defend us Siler City residents in that everyone who travels west on 64 into the traffic circle is not from Siler City. Being a native of Pittsboro I am more than aware of how the circle works.
The General Store is OUTSIDE of the traffic circle therefore the Yield sign does not apply to the part of 64 in front of it. Any cars that are pulling out of the spaces are to yeild to oncoming traffic. People who decide to take the risk of walking across traffic OUTSIDE of the traffic circle and crosswalks are putting themselves in danger. This does not in any way excuse drivers from speeding through the area and I too wish cops would crack the whip to enforce that when traveling through town you should go the speed limit, yeild to traffic and watch for pedestrians.
A suggestion maybe that the Town could put some speed bumps right outside the circle to slow the traffic down some. I sure do hope this situation is addressed before someone gets
hurt and I am so glad that this tpoic has been brought up.
This is just how I feel and I hope it doesn’t offend anyone who reads it.
