Gene,

Thanks for the link on distinguishing moles and voles and some control options (Chatlist # 3383).  I’ll avoid recreating all of that.  But I will issue two cautions:
1. In North Carolina moles are a non-game animal.  Therefore, trapping requires a permit from the NC Wildlife resources commission.  Voles are a legitimate pest animal and may be controlled with registered products.
2. Everyone should be wary of ordering pest control products from out of state.   Even EPA approved products must also be approved by the NC Department of Agriculture for pest control.  When ordering pest control products online or by phone, ask if the product is registered in North Carolina.
