Hi Everyone,

We got Gumbo back last night about 9pm. He had been picked up by a family about a mile away who found him wandering in the middle of the road Friday afternoon. They saw one of the signs I put up at a gas station.

If your pet goes missing, I encourage you to use all available resources in your search. Put up signs, call all the vets offices, call animal control, post on WNCA if you’re in Siler City, post on the chatlist, post on Craig’s List. And, please, if your pet’s name tag has fallen off, don’t procrastinate on replacing it. We would have saved ourselves a lot of time and heartache if I’d had a name tag on Gumbo.

Although it was very stressful and sad to be missing Gumbo, it was good to be reminded what a great community we have here in Chatham! Everyone was very sweet, from the folks who found Gumbo, to everyone in the gas stations, Southern States, vet offices and radio station when I carried flyers around and called. Ginny at Chatham animal control was wonderful and Shelley at Chatham Animal Rescue had great information for looking for a pet. And many thanks to everyone who sent their good wishes for Gumbo’s speedy return!

Thank you!

Kathleen
