I was in an accident at that intersection a year ago on my birthday.

A older gentlemen turning left going into the shopping center t-bone our car that was traveling towards chapel hill.  My husband, I and our 1 year old daughter were all in the car.  Our car was totaled and we spent my birthday in the hospital.

We had a green light, but for some reason the man thought he had the right away.  He was ticketed and fined.  About three weeks ago, it almost happened again.  I was traveling towards Chapel hill, and 2 cars were turning towards the shopping center as I approached.  To my surprise even though I was only maybe 400ft away from the light, a another car some woman was driving decided she too was about to turn.  I laid on the horn and she quickly moved out of the way and stopped her turn.

It is like people do not obey the signs, or recognize how fast people are moving on that road. I believe she thought because the two cars before her had been able to turn, then she was at the right away – instead of obeying the light (of course this is only if the light is correctly timed).

That leads me to my second point, I also believe that the light need to be looked at, and possibly changed or timed better.  Something is seriously wrong with that intersection.  I have been in this area for 3 years and seen more accidents in that area then I have seen in any other place.  It is a busy intersection, but coming from DC/Baltimore area, I have been worse intersections with worse congestion.  That is not an acceptable answer, and it should be figured out and fixed before more people are sent to the hospital or worse in body bags.
