Subject: Voting for Chatham School Board Candidates
The website www.ncreportcard.org lists a School-Report Card Snapshot or the performance for each public and charter school in North Carolina.
The ABC’s End-of Grade Tests results for the school, divided into thirteen categories defined by the No Child Left Behind Law (Male/ Female/ White/ Black/ Hispanic/ American Indian/ Asian/ Multiracial/ Economically Disadvantaged/ Not Economically Disadvantaged/ Limited English Proficiency/ Migrant Students/ Students with Disabilities) are shown and then compared to the school district and the state.
The latest results shown on the website are for 2006-07 school years and show that, when compared to all schools in North Carolina, Chatham County schools have lower test results in 7 of the 13 categories for elementary/middle schools and in 8 of the 13 categories for the high schools.
These results are clearly not acceptable. We need to try new board direction and for that reason I will be voting for Gene Galin and Mia Munn.
