Subject: Senatorial candidate Kay Hagan headlines Chatham Democratic Breakfast

Senatorial candidate Kay Hagan was the headliner at the 2008 Chatham County Democratic Party Breakfast that drew a crowd of about 200 Chatham Democrats. Karl G. Kachergis, Chatham party chairman played the role of Master of Ceremonies for the event.

Congressmen David Price and Bob Etheridge were present as well as Bob Atwater. Local officials present were Commissioners Mike Cross, George Lucier, Carl Thompson, and Tom Vanderbeck. Clerk of Court Janice Oldham and her husband sat across from DA Jim Woodall. Judges Carl Fox and Allen Baddour. Sheriff Richard Webster. BOE member Gerald Totten. From Pittsboro, Randy Voller and Pam Baldwin made an appearance.

Local candidates present were Sally Kost for County Commission and school Board candidates Gene Galin and Mia Munn were there as well.

I’m sure I didn’t missed mentioning a few folks. You can view pictures of the event and see who else you recognize in the crowd.at http://chathamjournal.net/photos/v/80809dembreakfast/
I even managed to sneak into one of the pictures 🙂

I regret not getting the closing rendition of Amazing Grace.

It was nice to see former commissioners Uva Holland and Margaret Pollard at the event. Both ladies were instrumental in me getting involved in local community service. Over a dozen years ago County Commissioners Pollard and Holland recommended me for committee positions on the Strategic Plan Development Committee and the County Water Board. I learned a lot about the county and it’s people by serving on those boards and interacting with folks county-wide.
