From the desk of John Sauls, Animal Control Manager:

Chatham County Animal Control is sponsoring a five dollar per animal Rabies Vaccination Clinic on Saturday, August 23, from 9 AM until Noon, at the Animal Shelter just off US 64, five miles west of Pittsboro. Look for the big green highway sign.

Dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers or boxes, or in a well ventilated vehicle. Dr. Houser can vaccinate them in the vehicle.

Chatham County Animal Control offers a $20 spay-neuter voucher available to Chatham County households where total household income is less than 200% of the federal poverty guidelines. These vouchers are redeemable for spay/neuter surgery at eight veterinarian practices in Chatham County. Single householders earning less than $21,000, qualify. Two people in a household earning less that $28,000 qualify for this program subsidy. Three people in a household where income is less than $35,000 qualify for this subsidy as do 4 person households where income is less than $42,000. There is no limit on the number of qualifying dogs/cats per household.
