One more comment on buying cars, Gene, if I may?

I use Edmunds.com to calculate the price of the car I am considering. They use statistics to provide the “fair cost” you should pay, and even tell you if the car you want is good quality and  has a good repair record, etc.

I can’t stand haggling … all those tricky and time-consuming antics, so twice I have bought very low mileage cars from CarMax and was very happy with both the experiences and the cars. [Although I would not purchase a used car without having my mechanic give me the green light].

I think the sales ploy of trying to wear you down by parking you in an office for hours while making the process confusing is unethical. I am sorry that in our small community a dealer would think it’s OK to treat their neighbors this way. This kind of salesmanship is old fashioned and insulting. Perhaps their code of honor reads: “If you cannot impress people with your intellect, baffle them with your B.S.”.
