Meg –

As sports parents, I think you and I can appreciate someone who is trying to start up a new sports program. Don’t know much about all the people involved yet, but I would have the tendency to give them a break. If I were to start something new, as an individual parent, I would probably start with my local school and expand from there rather that trying to go county-wide right away. I hope that it is a school sport that we could play on a county-wide basis.

I have had the chance to cover several lacrosse games including the ACC & NCAA lacrosse tournaments.
I must say it’s a lot of fun to watch and I thoroughly enjoy shooting the sport.

Personally I plan to hook up with Sally Bond and several of the other lacrosse folks to get an idea of what their plans are and see if there will be chances to get pics of Chatham kids playing another sport. We love to feature full-color action-filled sports pictures of Chatham kids in the Chatham Journal newspaper. The Chatham Journal has always been a proponent of youth sports and we plan to continue to do so.

BTW, if there are those who want to write up stories and/or take some good pictures of rec league and school please feel free to drop me a note at genefoto-at-chathamjournal.com

And yes, I hear us sports parents sometimes grip about the time we have to spend shuffling our kids around to different games, but I will choose that option over them just sitting in front of a TV playing video games. Plus they sleep well at night 🙂
