And we’ve always said the new high school in the NE would be, (thanks to the location the former BOE/Superintendent chose) 90% white.  So I guess Howards post shows how this program would fit perfectly there.  One of the best players I’ve ever see was African Amercian, played for UVA (I think), his name was Christmas. No one could catch him.   So, if you keep Lacrosse at the predominantly white schools (it flourishes in the private, prep school community) I guess you can keep it being the “white boys football”.

Again, I’m all for Lacrosse as a sport. However, if there’s going to be Lacrosse at the new schools, it needs to be offered as a program at the other two high schools, at the very least. If it doesn’t “make” due to lack of interest, so be it.  But the offer needs to be on the table.

Those of us who have been around remember the struggle JM had to field there own soccer team.
We don’t need to go down that road again.  The road of some have, some don’t.

Quote Howards post:

Interesting take on lacrosse by sports pontificator Bob Lee Swagger at http://www.bobleesays.com/RunScript.asp?page=45&Article_ID=512&AR=AR&p=ASP\~Pg45.aspI don’t normally pay attention to Lacrosse unless it involves DNA, two ho’s, and a dim-witted DA, but apparently theACC is among the best again this year.  UNC recently whipped superpower Hopkins and Duke, UVa, and Maryland are amongthe elite again.   I had a long chat with a notable Ram’s Club mover/shaker this week about Lacrosse.  Lacrosse is a sport on the riseespecially among non-African Americans who enjoy a contact sport but don’t have a place at the high school footballtable any longer.  Lacrosse has become “White Boy Football”.   In a liberated post-Jeremiah World it is now politically chic (!) to “go with your cultural flow”.  For aCaucasian-American kid, unless you are a QB, center or place-kicker those Friday Night Lights don’t shine on you anylonger.    That’s not good or bad.  It is just the way it is.   When will Volleyball become “White Boy Basketball” .. the alternative for sports-minded Cauc kids in the winter?  Howmany Cauc kids do you see in public school basketball?
