Knocking the exclusiveness of lacrosse

Ok…I’m was not knocking Lacrosse with my last post.  I was knocking the “exclusiveness” of the sport in general.  It’s a mid Atlantic thing.  Usually associated with white, upper class “boys”.  And now to see the this newly formed Lacrosse league was looking to only “endow” the  new NE schools with Lacrosse just struck me as, well, once again, following that same stereotypical pattern.

It’s a great game to play and to watch.  I have had many Lacrosse players come through where I work and they introduced me to the game.  I love it.

I think if a sport is introduced at a school in Chatham than it need to be offered at ALL schools in Chatham.  This reminds me of how JM had to fight for soccer while NW already had a program.

If there’s a DIME of school money spent on this program than the equal amount has to go to the other schools…middle and high school.

Better yet, why wouldn’t this league attempt to include the other schools in the county? Wouldn’t that make more sense?

Then there’s more teams to play? Of course, there may not be interest at the other schools, but I know there is interest at NW.  And I guess this league already doesn’t consider NW a NE school, seeing how their mission statement only mentions the “new” schools.

See, it’s already begun.

Meg

PS. I’ve heard Flint Obrian’s (school board candidate) name associated with this effort. Maybe he could shed some light.
