Just wanted to say that I commend the guy for standing up for the people in Subway. I worked in the food industry before I stayed home with my kids for 12 years. It is very difficult dealing with people like that when they get irate. It’s nice when people realize how hard you work and for little pay.

I just wish that more people would realize how much waitresses make (2.13 per hour) and tip them more. They, most of the time, deserve it. It sucks going to work and making 2.13 and working for 6 hours with 4 or 5 tables and only making 40.00 which most restaurants you have to tip out the bar, and the people that clean the tables, ect. I was a waitress for years and getting 1.00 tip stinks. I couldn’t make it.

I just thought I would let everyone know how much is actually made. It’s a struggle. anyway.

Now for the posts about the McD’s.

We need them. I am not the biggest fan of McD’s but we need those jobs. The Hardee’s in PBO is absolutely disgusting. Every single time I have ever been there I have gotten bad food and the service is horrible. There is very little option for people that don’t know the area, as the other lady said, the people driving through are probably not going to stop at places they don’t know and that’s just the nature of life. I personally can’t wait for more to come to PBO and Siler City.

I most likely will not patronize the fast food joints just because I like the locals Al’s Diner, S & T, Virilie’s (scoreboard), General Store Cafe, Brewery, ect… I just think about the jobs that they will bring to the community and the money that they will put back in to the area. It is so hard right now to live and some people are working 3 jobs to survive. They are having to drive FAR to get to work and if they had something closer they would save money on gas and precious time. They may be able to survive better.

For those who think the new mall is a bad idea, please consider the people that don’t have jobs that need them and the people that need to work closer to home. Don’t just consider the fact that the food isn’t healthy or bad. If those restaurants can get people to stop in PBO they may decide to take a peek around and hopefully spend money at some of the wonderful local shops (BEGGARS AND CHOOSERS is the store I love the most, ect. It may bring them back to the area to stay a night or two in one of the bed and breakfasts. ie: bringing more revenue to the locals and the community

I also just want to add that I am one of these people that cannot find a job in the area because there is nothing that pays enough to cover 2 kids in daycare and actually make a living to support my family so my wonderful husband has to work gobs of hours to support us!

I sell Avon at home with my kids. It is the only job that I could find to make an income to help my family.

Thanks and I hope that everyone has a great day!

Jennifer
