I would like to “ditto” Tami Schwerin’s recommendation of Susan Harris in Moncure — she is indeed the flower lady extraordinaire.

Susan has initiated a most creative business:
– you can subscribe to 18 weeks of fresh, locally grown, completely organic flowers with wonderful variety for a flat fee (you pick up or have them delivered/ fees differ depending on level of service)
– you can exchange perennials with her if you have an abundance of interesting & high quality plants
– you can exchange labor for plants
– you and friends can reserve a class to learn flower arranging from a professional/ what a delightful ‘friends time’ that could be.
I went to Susan’s flower farm and mulched for an hour and gained some new specimens. In addition, she was exceedingly generous with planting information — very valuable to new gardeners like me.
Going to Susan’s is a delightful experience and our community is most fortunate that she is among us.

We are in an interesting time of rising fuel costs, rising food costs due to rising fuel costs and I just came home to a gorgeous bouquet of locally and sustainably grown flowers from Susan Harris.
Susan Harris has a growing cut flower business in Moncure…she has many options and you can just ask for them to be delivered to your kitchen table. It’s really all about the simple pleasures in life, don’t you think?!
