skywatching Hi folks,

On Thursday, January 3, several members of the Chapel Hill Astronomical and Observational Society (CHAOS) will bring their equipment and expertise on all things celestial to the Bynum pedestrian bridge from 7 to 9pm.

Some of the objects we hope to view are the Andromeda Galaxy and the Orion Nubula. Maybe comet Holmes will still be cooking, so bring your binoculars!

Winter constellations are quite bright and should put on a good show: Orion, Geminii, Andromeda, Taurus, Auriga.

If you have a telescope, even if you don’t know how to use it (like me), bring
it and CHAOS members will help you get started. It is sure to be a fascinating and educational experience. Bring a flashlight. It will be dark.

Rain/cloud date is Friday, Jan. 4.
