Propane Gas Pricing

Subject: propane gas

Several months ago there was a discussion about propane gas prices. It was noted that there were great discrepancies between propane prices. A few people said they called their propane company and were able to get their per gallon price back down to $1.89 after it had gone up just by asking or complaining.

I had never paid any attention to how much I paid, but after this discussion I checked and I was paying $2.39 per gallon. It took me several months of calling my propane company, which is Energy United Propane, formerly out of Apex but now out of Carthage, to get a straight answer. They would tell me they would get an answer about the price discrepancy and call me back, but no
one ever called back.

Finally I emailed the main office and got a straight answer, which is this. My price is higher because my usage was too low. I use propane to heat my house and to cook with. We try to be energy conscious and conserve. So basically, Energy United is penalizing me for trying to conserve. If I used a lot more propane, I would get a better price. I think this is not a very environmentally responsible policy and I told them so. They are rewarding people who consume more gas! So, I would like to find a new propane company. Can anyone give me some recommendations, particularly one of those that had the lower prices? Thanks in advance!
