The following is a letter from Habitat’s Suzanne Stevens “explaining” why some employees seem to have disappeared from their former positions.  Employees that customers looked forward to seeing, chatting with and appreciating their assistance. Why build up such customer appreciation and then dump the employee, creating  a void that leaves the customer wondering, disappointed and puzzled? Here is the answer we have all been waiting for- long winded to be sure, idealizing the facts and coloring the issues.

Faith groups of various denominations are joining together to build a home
in partnership with a local family in need. We still have volunteer slots to
fill! No construction experience is required – we will teach you the skills
you need. (You will be amazed at yourself by the end of the day! ) Not only
will you make a difference in a family’s life and strengthen your community,
you will also get to know your congregation in a whole new way. Here’s what
you do: round up a team of 10-20 volunteers and call or e-mail me to sign

Subject: asking for assistance

I am asking all fellow chatlisters for assistance.  I am making simple blankets to send to Haiti. I am sending all the blankets that get made along with other handmade blankets from groups of sewers around the country in March.  I am asking for any donations of 2 yard lengths of light weight fleece, flannel, or light weight cotton material, or thread. Plain cotton Tshirts can also be used to make cotton diapers.  Any monetary donations would be helpful as well, I can use it to buy material or will place it with my churches offering that will be sent.  Any donations can be dropped off at the Chatham Habitat for Humanity Home Store Too Store with my husband Damian Munn.  Thank you all for your help and prayers for all of those in need. If you are unable to help in donation, your prayers are more powerful than you realize….

These items will lead supporters on a “walk down memory lane.” They may even catch a glimpse of themselves digging a footing by hand – the way early Habitat volunteers got things done.
