Subject: 2013 Cinderella’s Closet
Cinderella’s Closet provides formal wear to girls who could not otherwise afford to attend their prom. Through donations of new and gently used formal dresses and accessories, we are able to “Turn Dresses Into Dreams” for juniors and seniors referred by their school, community organization or social care agency. Even more than a dress, Cinderella’s Closet provides an unforgettable, amazing experience. From the moment our princesses float through our doors they are greeted with an environment of grace, love and respect. It is our mission that they leave knowing they are cherished.
In its third year, 2013 Cinderella’s Closet of Chatham County is sponsored by Pittsboro Baptist Church and funded by a grant from the Women of Fearrington, Inc. It will be held in Chatham County.
We are looking for Coordinating Team members to take different areas of responsibility for this event which will occur in spring 2013. It is anticipated that most of the organizing can be done via email and phone calls with very few (an initial meeting and one closer to the event) coordinating meetings needed.
Chatham County women are needed to coordinate these areas:
* Donation collection
* School liaison
* Volunteer recruitment (fairy godmothers, set up, decoration of facility, tear down, seamstresses, etc.)
* Organization of “Teas” (This year we hope to find various neighborhoods who have a resident willing to sponsor a tea to collect donations; this was very successful last year at Briar Chapel and was a great social time for the many woman attending.)
* Publicity
If a organization or even a book club, for example, would like to volunteer as a group for one of these areas that would be appropriate also. This is a community event and while there are a number of details to coordinate, many hands make it quite easy to manage and provides satisfaction in helping with an event such as this.
