Subject: Answer To Chatlist Subscriber’s Question About Alzheimer’s Help

Yesterday someone asked about help for a friend whose husband has Alzheimer’s. One place to look for such help would be on Chatham Connecting’s website, www.chathamconnecting.com With information about 100 Chatham County agencies which help area residents, the website is a great resource that is free and easy to use. Each agency has included information about its programs and how to make contact.

There are, at least, two agencies represented on the site which may be able to help in this situation. First, there is the Chatham County Council on Aging which promotes and encourages independent living and physical and mental wellness among the population over 60 years of age via a broad/variety of activities and programs. Second, there is the Chatham County Department of Social Services which protects vulnerable children and adults, strengthens and preserves families, provides access to health care and better nutrition, and promotes economic stability while encouraging personal responsibility. These agencies may be able to provide direct assistance or provide references to other agencies that do.
