To all having your cars inspected, be aware of the $10 fee for tinted window inspection, one should only be charged if the tint was applied after the vehicle was manufactured so if your cars windows are tinted at the factory, they do not need to check them, only after market films applied to the inside of the glass is subject to the inspection and charge – see: here where it states: Vehicles with applications of after?factory window tinting must be checked, at an additional charge of $10 during a North Carolina safety inspection to ensure they meet specifications set by the state in G.S. 20-127). Yes – I got charged where I shouldn’t have. Lesson learned
