Haw River Assembly would like to invite you to a screening of the “Angel of Alabama” on March 9

The Haw River Assembly would like to invite you to a screening of the “Angel of Alabama”. Following the film, there will be an expert panel discussion on the film and PFAS issues. It will take place on March 9th at 6:30 pm at Chatham County Agriculture & Conference Center. Doors open at 6 pm.

With PFAS immensely impacting our community, this event will provide citizens with an insight into the dangers of PFAS and what can be done.

The film features Brenda Hampton, a mid-career investigator returning home to rural Alabama as her mother’s health is failing. Amidst unusually rampant disease, she launches an investigation in order to heal her county. Brenda’s efforts led the manufacturer, 3M, to filter the water supply and prevent PFAS, also called “forever chemicals”, from entering the environment.

A discussion featuring a panel of experts and led by Haw Riverkeeper, Emily Sutton, will follow. Panelists include:

Dr. Mark Strynar – Physical Scientist in EPA’s Office of Research and Development.
    Dr. Jessica Merricks – Co-Founder of CleanHawRiver.org
    Katie Bryant – Co-Founder of CleanHawRiver.org
Elijah Yetter-Bowman – Film Director,  Angel of Alabama

Tickets are free to the public and can be found here.
