Separating Ourselves
We’ve separated ourselves into blue and red
Divided ourselves by cities, states, and countries
Losing our thread of humanity
Our quest for individualism
has left no room for the whole
Separated from each other
and separated from ourselves
For as long as we forget WE
We have forgotten ME
A father, a mother, a son or daughter
Each and every one of us
Our blood runs the same color
Our hearts all beat the same
Us and them is just an illusion
Let’s remember our connectedness
Let’s return to curiosity about our differences
Let’s dispel our fixed positions and heal
