It is election season in Chatham County and once again the old debates about taxation without representation for the geographic majority, population minority portion of the county is getting attention. Let’s be honest. The, conservative, western, rural, part of the county simply does not have, does it want, and will hopefully never have the population density to out vote the liberal, dense, McMansion on a postage stamp, eastern portion of the county and it’s only going to get worse as the Yankee transplants flee Chapel Hill and start to occupy the monstrosity called Chatham Park. Since we’re being honest, lets also admit that the two portions of the county really don’t want to live together, don’t want to be anything like the other, and don’t want the other’s way of life infringing on their own. Both sides hate and resent having money stolen from them under threat of force (taxes) being spent on the other. The people in the western part are rightfully angry about ever increasing tax bills to pay for the “development” in the east. Keep in mind that part of the wink wink nudge nudge deals by the communist politburo, er I mean commissioners was that the “developers” cross their fingers behind their back while promising to put in all the infrastructure as part of the deal knowing full well it will get foisted onto the (property) tax payers. Likewise, the people in the eastern part don’t like the idea of having what they see as a disproportionate share of their payments going to support the western part.
Folks, the answer is simple and has been raised several before: amicable divorce. Divide the county and split it up east and west. The east can have all their obligatory liberal government run services they care to pay for and the west can avoid paying for those things they don’t want or need. Each side can have it’s own representation or other form of governance of it’s choosing and we can put a stop to the idea of one side trying to cram their pet agenda down the other’s throats. Since we’re still being honest here, aren’t we, unless something is done eventually the county is going to tear itself apart anyway and become a mini form of Sarajevo in the Balkan War. If you want proof just look at what is happening in various cities around the nation and then look at the “protests” that have been happening in Pittsboro that have already turned into brawls just like in the cities. Do not think the violence can’t and won’t happen here.
Which brings me to …. In the Chatlist today, there was a piece from the Board of Health citing, among other things, the degree to which SARS-CoV2 is spreading throughout the Hispanic portions of our community and the poorer outcomes of black males in particular. Of course Commissar Horner makes the declaration that as a result the department must work to “stomp out structural racism”. (Double Facepalm time). Pardon my French, but what a total crock of S..t!. They are NOT getting the virus because of racist whites or anything to do with racism. Go out on any Saturday morning and take a gander at the local flea markets. You will observe the absolute opposite of “social distancing”. Couple that with their tendency to live with large numbers in tight quarters and there is your spread of Covid 19. Likewise with the statistically poorer outcome for blacks. Rather than blaming racism why doesn’t the Board of HEALTH actually look at HEALTH factors and statistics such as drug use, obesity, high blood pressure, poor diet, and lack of preventative care. No, because racism fits the communist’s agenda.
As a citizen of the western part of the county, I hereby call upon my Representatives…. oh wait .. I mean Representative ….. Oh … well …. never mind…. Still I hereby call for the defunding and dissolution of the Board of Health. I do not want my money being used to fund an organization that puts out such bunk in the name of science. The people of the western part of the county should REFUSE to pay the tax bills that the Politburo has been sending out in order to defund the entire apparatchik!
