Subject: Fwd: Clean and Green Volunteers Wanted (Free Lunch!)
Mark your calendars to spend a few volunteer hours helping Chatham county neighbors beautify a short (but full of litter) country road. We’re having a Clean and Green road cleanup of Alex Cockman Road on Saturday April 28 from 10:00 am 1:00pm.
Gloves, bags, safety vests, drinks, and lunch will be provided.
We’d love to have as many volunteers as possible – youth needing hours, or a club looking for an eco friendly project. Please contact me if you have some ideas on who else to ask. Any amount of time picking up trash would be helpful. It’s very rewarding to spend a few hours picking up trash along the side the road and then drive back down admiring the good work.
The cleanup will culminate with a hot dog/hamburger lunch by the barn catered by Chatham County’s own master barbecue Chef – Steve Cockman. After lunch I’m happy to take kids or adults on a hay ride down the old logging road on the back 40. You can also learn the history of Hickory Mountain Hunting Club run by Alex Cockman in the early to mid 1900s.
Meet at the barn near 2044 Alex Cockman Rd.
Please RSVP to mcockman99@gmail.com so we’ll know how much food and drink to get for lunch.
We’re happy to accept raffle prize donations from local companies for the participants. Contact: Michael Cockman 336.817.5871
