Subject: CERT and ham radio in Chatham County
Thanks to everyone who attended the Chatham County CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) and ham radio information session on January 24.
If you were unable to attend and are interested in reading the presentation, please join our email group at https://groups.google.com/
There seems to be a lot of interest in the county about emergency preparations, ham radio communications, and helping neighbors during disasters. The first CERT class is scheduled for February and is almost full. We will have more classes later in the year. There will additional training opportunities in other areas, and exercises where we can practice before a real emergency occurs.
One needs only to read the news to understand the importance of emergency preparedness and helping our communities – wildfires, landslides, hurricanes, floods, snowstorms, power outages – and see the need to be better prepared to take care of ourselves, our households, and our communities.
Please join the list, read the presentation, and consider becoming involved as a Chatham resident in this important venture.
