Subject: Blue Ribbon . . .
Not that type- Not the type you win a a county fair or the dog show. Oh, I got several of that those- For porcelain dolls, for paintings, for pottery- Even got a few for best miniature pony- Picked those up at the thrift store. I guess the winner’s owner had passed on.
This little blue ribbon is sky blue- Maybe to you, baby blue. But anyway, it has been floating around my pretend ‘safe boxes’ and clutter catch drawers for years. Narrow, about sixteen inches long. Why am I saving it? I don’t know. It is something that can be bought and replaced easily if ever need be. But wait- Would a new one have that same warmth, the same ‘oh, so smooth’ touch that has textured this one over the years? I fear not. What to do with a little blue ribbon that has sometimes eluded me, teased me, challenged me for decades? I just don’t know.
Perhaps I will tie it around my finger, so i won’t forget to do something with it. But, with my failing memory, I probably would need to buy more , just so I could remember what the little blue ribbon around my finger was for.
