Subject: Extension Master Gardener Volunteers Summer Soil Test Drive
Chatham County Summer Soil Test Drive
July 12 – August 8
To encourage Chatham County residents and gardeners to test their soil in time for fall planting projects, Chatham County Extension Master Gardeners Volunteers are holding a Summer Lawn and Garden Soil Test Drive.
Between July 12 and August 8, county residents can pick up soil test supplies and drop off completed samples at the N.C. Cooperative Extension Chatham County Center, located in the west end of the Chatham County Agriculture and Conference Center, 1192 US 64 W Business, Pittsboro.
Additional locations where soil sampling supplies can be picked up and completed samples can be dropped off include:
– Country Farm and Home, 101 S. Small St., Pittsboro
– From the Extension Master Gardener booth at the Fearrington Farmers Market. Extension Master Gardener Volunteers attend the Fearrington Farmers Market the first and third Tuesday of each month, from 4:00 – 6:00 pm
All samples submitted during the drive will be delivered free of charge to the soil test lab in Raleigh in mid-August and individuals can expect to receive their results by email in early September – just in time to for fall garden projects.
If you have questions about soil sampling, during or after the Summer Soil Test Drive, you can speak to an Extension Master Gardener Volunteer during plant clinic hours, Monday and Thursday afternoons, from 1:00 – 4:00. You can visit, call 919-545-271 or email  with your questions.
