The map they use is problematic in that our area is colored brownish which is no a color they use to identify download rates. They list a yellowish color as above 100mbps, light blue as 25-100mbps, and pinkish as 1-24 mbps. No brown is listed.
We have 1.5 mbps so we should be in the pinkish region.
The other problem with this map is that the speed ranges are huge and distort what service regions are actually getting. Even if we were in a pinkish region, that would mean we could have 1 or 24 mbps which is a huge speed difference. Heck if we had 10 mpbs we would be happy with that data rate. If we had that speed, our only complaint would be about Century Link’s appalling reliability.
In spite of the maps issue, people should go and enter their actual data rate. It cannot hurt.
