Subject: Re: Stinson’s mean post- Libel?
Mark Stinson’s post defaming a Chatham County business borders on, if not libel. To warn people not to do business there is outright mean. He gives no details as to the offence committed against the ‘person’ wronged.
“In the United States, the person must prove that the statement was false, caused harm, and was made without adequate research into the truthfulness of the statement.”
Please feel free to prove that the statement was false, the statement caused harm, and the statement was made without adequate research into its truthfulness. Oh wait, you can’t, otherwise you would have said something other than “I don’t like what this person said and I’m going to chuck out a legal term to try to scare them into silence.”
That company has been there for years and I have never heard anything bad about them.
You have heard something bad about them now. Did you know that people are not static beings that never change and always behave identically in all situations? You do now!
Come on Mark- If you got something to say, say it- You at other times blab-mouth your dislikes to the point of disgust.
He may have withheld details to prevent the person that had the experience from being personally attacked. There is no shortage of highly vindictive people in this county that will go very far out of their way to try to hurt you if there is a disagreement. The Chatlist’s history is full of the public posts of people who spend hours of their free time doing thorough searches of voter registrations and county tax records just so they can claim that “Billy F. McJohnsonpants isn’t a REAL county citizen, so their views which I think are stupid can be dismissed outright (even though having land or a car or a registration to vote are wholly irrelevant to the discussion.)” I post here under a pseudonym because of the bad actions of such people.
If Mark’s post lacks sufficient detail to be credible then you should trust others to notice that and ignore the warning as a result. Trying to pin libel on Mark just shows that you don’t understand how libel laws work.
