Subject: on voting
It was one of those Aha! moments. I had decided I had better talk to my representative both in the state house and U.S. Congress about the recent activities of my government (Oh yeah, it’s mine though I voted for Hillary.). I pulled out my rarely read voter registration card, found I had a few questions and called the Board of Elections. The lady there kindly informed me my card was 4 years out of date and that she would send me a new, up-to-date one. Out of curiosity I looked at the voting district of four years ago. It roughly resembled a snoozing dragon as it wound across 3 counties. In the ensuing years it has been pulled back into the borders of Chatham County. Hillary Clinton carried the county in November 2016, I think largely because the boundaries of our voting district truly reflected the diversity of we 65,000 Chathamites.
It was an awakening moment from my complacent snooze through the past four years. So, what does your voter registration card say?
