Now, why did the writer have to draw attention not only to the color of the people but their gender and age as well, as if he was surprised that males or young people would act so honestly? Couldn’t he have just said, “two human beings?” I’m surprised the folks jumping on him about the color thing didn’t upbraid him for his apparent sexism and and ageism, too.
