For those of you who are working on your writing or like to join a writing group, I’m offering two, one in poetry, one in prose, beginning in September. Here’s the scoop:
Judy Hogan will be offering a poetry writing class September 12-November 14, Mondays, 7-9 PM in her home in Moncure and by Skype. We will read selected poems from W.B. Yeats Collected Poems and Seamus Heaney’s Opened Ground: Selected Poems 1966-1996. Students of any stage of poetry writing are welcome. Assignments will be made based on the readings. Cost $160, which includes postage for mailing back poems.
Hogan has been teaching creative writing in the Triangle area since 1974. She has published six collections of poetry through small presses. From 1976-91 she was founding editor of Carolina Wren Press.
Write Your Life Story with Judy Hogan, Thursdays, 1-3 PM, Sept. 8-Nov. 10, 2016 in Judy’s home in Moncure. We will read and discuss Folly by Laurie King. Students may work on any prose form: autobiography, biography, memoir, fiction, journal. Students will feel more at ease with writing their stories and move toward their own writing and personal goals. Students may share with the class and/or turn in weekly assignments for instructor comment. Judy Hogan has been teaching Creative Writing for over 40 years. She finds that reading good models helps students improve their writing faster than any other way. Cost: $150
