home? Someone who needs assistance in bathing, dressing, toileting and other personal care needs? The Chatham County Council on Aging’s In Home Aide program is designed to help residents remain at home for as long as possible. We assist older adults in maintaining their independence by providing nursing assistants from licensed home health agencies to help with personal care, perform in-home tasks and meal preparation. The program is open to all Chatham residents 60+ who require personal care needs in the home.
*Home Delivered Meals*: Volunteers provide a brief visit and a hot meal for home bound older adults. The Council on Aging provides these meals 5 days a week through 10 different routes throughout the county. The program is open to all Chatham residents 60+ who are unable to attend congregate meals at our centers.
*Wellness & Senior Center Programs**:*
*Congregate Meals*: A nutritious noontime meal and community fellowship is provided daily, Monday through Friday, at both Senior Centers. A variety of programs and activities are offered, such as health screenings, games, nutrition education, and art classes. Contact us for the monthly menu. The program is open to all Chatham residents 60+.
*Senior Center Activities*: There is a lot to do at the senior center! Learn science, Play bingo, quilt, garden, sing, hula hoop, take part in an exercise or art class, or work out in the exercise room. Contact us to receive a schedule of monthly activities. The program is open to all Chatham residents 60+.
*Transportation*
Can’t get to the center on your own? No problem! Transportation is available to the Centers with scheduled stops at the grocery store and pharmacy. Chatham Transit will pick you up at your house, deliver you to the senior center for activities and a meal then take you back! Vans are also handicap/wheelchair accessible complete with lifts to accommodate those with disabilities.
