Warning! A reminder to locals and a note to transplanted Northerners…
North Carolina weather is NEVER cold enough for long enough to freeze ponds/lakes with ice thick enough to support even the smallest person. We loose children every year to attempts to skate on the pond. Tell all the children you know to stay off the ice, no matter how thick it seems to be. Even your dog is not safe.
