Subject: Renee Paschal is the new Chatham county manager Nov 1st
I attended the Monday night Chatham County commissioner’s meeting at the courthouse in Pittsboro.
I am happy to report that Renee Paschal has been named as the new Chatham County manager effective November 1, 2015.
Renee will be replacing Charlie Horne, who is retiring as the county manager effective October 30. Charlie is moving to Virginia where he will be a gentlemen farmer.
I have know Renee since she started working for the county and I am happy that she has been offered the position as county manager. She has always done a good job and I’m sure she will continue to do one as our new county manager.

As Charlie’s assistant, she was responsible for county operations in his absence. On-going responsibilities include:
- Assisting with oversight of overall county operations, with a focus on internal programs & services
- Developing the annual county budget
- Overseeing the capital improvement plans (funding plans for major construction & renovation projects)
- Developing and teaching courses for employee development
- Promoting internal and external communications
Her new responsibilities will include –
- Overseeing the overall county operations within the policies adopted by the Board of County Commissioners, with a focus on external programs & community relations
- Maintaining relationships between the county and the community
- Facilitating coordination between county departments
- Promoting effective management practices and priorities for departments and employees
