Subject: Perfect solution to clear cutting issue
Buy the land and protect it. There is little if any Old Growth Forest in Chatham. I assume what people mean is good sized trees that have grown back after an area has been logged. Most of the Piedmont has been logged repeatedly over the past 400 years. Most of the soils in Chatham are suited to pine growth and a combination of clear cut areas growing back and maturing trees supports the most diverse and thriving wildlife community, including especially our songbirds.
