Subject: Greetings from Town Board candidate Casey Mann
Hi, I am Casey Mann, and I am a candidate for Pittsboro Town Board.
I have worked in and around Pittsboro for almost three years, and I moved my family here when an affordable house became available, in mid-summer, over a year ago. My two children are attending their second year in the Chatham County Schools.
Although I grew up in Maryland, I have lived my adult life in North Carolina. Two of my siblings live nearby in the Triangle. I have lived in two major cities in NC, and worked extensively in a third, but I fell in love with the Circle City immediately, and moved my work here soon after my first visit and then with my family of two teenagers.
My career has always involved public service, beginning with my paid work in policy and politics in 2004 as the Director of Volunteer Activities for the Kerry-Edwards Campaign in Raleigh, and assisting Yvonne Johnson with her field plan in 2007 when Johnson became the first African-American mayor for the City of Greensboro.
I was named the State Director of the North Carolina Democratic Party (NCDP) by Chairman Randy Voller. As State Director, I developed a series of innovative training programs for the organization. In 2014 I became the Executive Director of the NCDP. After leading the battle from the front lines,I organized a campaign for the leadership of the NCDP in 2014 that resulted in the first statewide Democratic gains in six years and a sweep of the supreme court races.
I am currently self employed, organizing a start-up company called Blue Ballot Solutions, and am now working to advise candidates who share my own values: justice, opportunity, equality, and community. My company views local government as the foundation for these enduring values.
As my candidacy for Town Board continues, I will share with you more specific ideas I hope to support as a member of the Pittsboro Town Board.
