Subject: RE: Zoning in the county
I can recall Northern Chatham long ago when it was a wooded wonderland for longtime Chathamites, folks who wanted to disappear from Orange and Durham and various people associated with UNC.
Pittsboro was considered a far off outpost.
Change happens and we need to adapt.
No one wants their land controlled and certainly we do not like faceless bureaucrats issuing writs about our land.
However, we need to move forward with reasonable proposals to protect out land and ensure that we are well situated for the future.
Most of the successful counties have some form of zoning and we should be open minded about the process and the final result.
Comparing folks to Nazis and making other similar arguments is ridicules, demeaning and no matter how entertaining to write counterproductive as well.
Let’s focus on how we can hear the different perspectives on this issue and create good and sound public policy that will protect and enhance not only our property rights and value but also enhance the entire community as well.
