SPECTACULAR SPRING TREE IMMERSION
March 21, April 11, May 9, June 13 2015
Saturdays, 1-5pm
Get to know our edible and medicinal trees from bud to blossom and beyond! This brand new immersion begins on the Spring Equinox and spans the entire spring season while we wander in wonder through the beautiful woods and fields of Chatham and Orange counties. In a fun, reverent, and accessible way, we’ll explore tree identification (starting with no leaves), safe and sustainable harvesting, as well as food and medicine preparations and uses.
Add to your home apothecary as we create tree-inspired tinctures, teas, infused oils, and delicious wild edible treats, like red bud flower marmalade, wild cherry bark syrup, or sweet gum ball tincture. Botany, plant meditation, cultural history, detailed handouts & recipes, spontaneous song and movement, and story-telling will enliven our experience and help us retain what we’ve learned as we practice really seeing and appreciating the beautiful, elaborate, simple, and fascinating details of trees.
I’ve grown up in these woods and I’ve been in love with trees for as long as I can remember. Join me and your neighbors in deepening your relationship with and appreciation for trees.
