Subject: Yea for Volunteering and Taylor Kish
So glad to see “Taylor Kish” suggesting that people volunteer.
In a recent post, s/he encouraged folks to serve on panels to help determine how County grant monies are distributed.
Our county is stronger when people bring their perspectives and skills to participate in decision-making at all levels of government. Whether that participation comes from serving on boards or committees, or assisting with administration, events, or mission-oriented tasks — the people of Chatham win when neighbors with a diversity of perspectives, experiences, opinions, and skills get involved, work together and share what they know.
There’s a win for the individuals, too: volunteering allows participants of all ages to learn new skills, meet new people, and gain greater insight into how the County and non-profit organizations work and what purposes they serve. I’m delighted that “Taylor Kish” recognizes this.
