Subject: hybrid rocket wood stove
Several of you have seen my rocket stove . The second version has heated my shop for two years and provided awesome heat even on the coldest days with small amounts of wood . It uses a thermal mass to hold the combustion chamber temps high for an exceptionally clean burn . It acts like a catalytic converter . In simple terms it burns so hot that all you get is clear steam out the chimney . The stove radiates most of the heat in the room instead of up the stove pipe and out to heat the world outside . The stove is so efficient in radiating the heat inside the exhaust pipe 6 inches out of the stove is no warmer than a dryer vent pipe . I have put my hand on it as a demonstration several times when the outside of the top chamber is 450 degrees .
I want to take this thing a step further and combine several more design concepts to create a stove that is so efficient you can easily heat a home on scraps and yard waste . I’m in no health to cuts loads of fire wood so the more efficient the thing is the less wood I need to accumulate for it . I’m looking for others who want to be part of the next stove project so as I build mine you can build yours . My project needs to be done sooner than later as my heating system is dead and we are heating with small ceramic heaters . I have a manufactured fireplace that was designed for gas or wood but these things will not heat efficiently as most of the heat goes up the pipe . I want to build an insert version that will slip into the place of a traditional insert and heat a home safely and efficiently . The high temp combustion and efficient radiation of heat plus cooler and cleaner exhaust eliminates creosote build up even with pine ! If your interested in participating in the project just drop me an email 🙂
