Subject: Another Chatham Democrat for Bock, Petty & Stewart
I have to agree with my friend Dale this election. I’m sticking with experience when it comes to the Chatham Board of Commissioners.
I’m going to vote for Brian Bock, Walter Petty and Pam Stewart.
Don’t want to have anything to do with Jeff Starkweather and his Chatham Coalition candidates Howard, Hales and Crawford. The quicker we can get rid of them the better for our party.
For experience I am also going with Robert Rieves and Sheriff Webster and Gary Leonard.
For school board, I’m agreeing with Judy Hogan and Dale – going for Mia Munn and Angela Millsaps.
Mia especially has done a great job of keeping us informed about what has been going on at the school board meeting. I think she’s attended almost as many meetings as the school board members.

Subject: Here’s who this Chatham Democrat is voting for
My fellow Democrat Judy Hogan told us who she is voting for a couple of weeks ago.
Here’s who this Chatham County Democrat is voting for this election –
Robert Reives gets my vote for the state senator from Chatham / Lee county. He replaced Deb McManus when she got ousted for cheating on her family business’ taxes. Have met the man and love his energy.
For school board, I too am voting for Mia Munn. I remember when she ran 6 years ago. After her loss she seemed to get more into what was going on in our schools. I really appreciate that she attends almost all of the school board meetings and provides us with her meeting notes here on the Chatlist.
Del Turner’s time has passed. She doesn’t have the energy she once had and dozing off in school board meetings is inexcusable.
I also agree with Judy that Del Turner mishandled the conflict that arose when superintendent Robert Logan was going to move 6th-8th graders out of our K-8 schools in rural communities, like Moncure, Bennett, and Bonlee. I appreciate the fact that even though she was not a school board member, Mia Munn provided support and information to those in these small communities who opposed these unnecessary changes. She understands that parents to do not want their elementary and middle school children spending loads of time riding on school buses everyday. I feel that Mia Munn will be better able to address the future growth and necessary changes coming to Chatham County schools.
Yep Judy, Angela Millsaps has been working hard in our schools and our community for years. She has my vote.
BTW. the Wilsons may be good people, but you don’t get my vote because you’re someone’s daughter. If you really cared about the position, it would also be nice if you attended some more of the BOE meetings.
Gary Leonard is running unopposed. He’s been good part of the community for years. Nice to have a member of the school board who is still teaching. I’m sure his position at the Chatham Charter School gives him a different perspective that contributes greatly to the school board.
For Chatham County Sheriff I’m sticking with Richard Webster. Don’t see a need to change boats in mid stream. I do like Larry Meadows, but I see no reason to change.
When it comes to Board of Commissioner, this is where we part ways Judy.
I will in no way vote for any of the Chatham Coalition / Jeff Starkweather candidates – Hales, Crawford or Howard. None of them have really done much of anything. Diana Hales hates fracking in Lee County. Karen Howard hates on poor people needing a cell tower in her rich community. And Jim Crawford hates going to Chatham planning board meetings (why else does he keep missing meetings?). Don’t need to say much more than that.
I voted for Brian Bock, Walter Petty and Pam Stewart last time and I’ll be voting for them again this time.
They have managed to increase school spending, given our teachers bonuses and promoted business within Chatham without raising our taxes.
They have also pretty much let our county employees do what they need to do without micromanaging them. A family member who worked under the Starkweather regime has asked us all to keep the Chatham Coalition candidates out.
I love the effort they have put into getting the megasite set up in Siler City and I hope things work out. It might not happen today, or tomorrow, but it seems that that there is the potential to bring industry and jobs to a part of the county that has really been hurting.
I also appreciate Pam Stewart pushing forward to getting high speed internet into more parts of this county. She’s done more than that Vanderbeck fellow ever did.
They all have business expereince that has served our community well and I see no reason to change boats in mid stream. I say we give Stewart, Bock and Petty another 4 years.
Dale
BTW, I still like Mike Cross!
