Subject: Doesn’t the government check on illegals?
We recently built a new house and, before we began, asked our builder if he employed illegals; he said “No, they all have green cards”. Once construction was underway, we began to talk with some of the workers and found out that most of them actually no longer had a valid green card. When we spoke to the builder about this, he said he took taxes out of the worker’s paycheck.
Here’s my question: If the builder is taking taxes out of a pay check, wouldn’t the government be looking for a tax return from that worker ? This is very strange to me and I am in a quandary regarding what can be done about business owners who employ this practice. I consider myself a Democrat and feel that if folks want to come here to make a better life, go through the process of becoming a citizen and fulfill all of the obligations of being a citizen of our country.
