I read the last post from Virginia Penly and I did some research . I’m putting a VP in front of excerpts I used from her post for clarity , everything else is my response noted by a ( GM ) for Goodnite Mark

( GM) Tom Sullivan is a consulting engineer who blogs at Scrutiny Hooligans. He has contributed to Huffington Post, Crooks and Liars, and Hullabaloo. He is first vice chair of the Buncombe County Democratic Party. He is a professional mudslinger and propaganda fact twisting strong man for western North Carolina Democrats . He is considered by many to be in with the conspiracy theory crowd and socialist liberals who want government control over almost everything . My thoughts are what kind of Chathamite would subscribe to a newspaper on the other side of the state and try to use one of its posts here in Chatham County as relevant information to Chatham County ? What does that political machine have to do with us ?
VP ( Telling the citizens that we produce government that is streamlined and efficient with little or no regulation does not speak to the qualitative aspect of governance nor its moral imperative.)
( GM) Moral imperative ? We have had democrats indicted in this county and on a national level democrats literally caught with their pants down with some intern on their knees doing services not mandated in their job description ,, and you talk about morals ?
( VP ) My point is simply that we need elected commissioners in Chatham County who will commit to a vision that has a moral center with values that will benefit the working class, the middle class, students, young people, retirees and professionals.
Jim Crawford, Diana Hales and Karen Howard will commit to investing every year in Goldston, Pittsboro and Siler City, working on strategies to avoid the land use conflicts that we are witnessing around Goldston and the Goat House Refuge, investing more capital in Economic Development, our tourism industry, pedestrian, cycling and transit as well as arts, culture and our beautiful environment and countryside.
( GM ) In other words the democrats vision is to re-examine the prospect of more rules and regulations telling us what we can and cant do with our property . This will increase taxes and add more fees for more regulations .. They want to use more of MY and YOUR TAX MONEY for things like walking trails , bike paths , and converting our towns into mini Hippy Hill clones even thought most of us don’t want that to happen period . We will go back to having someone on a county level telling us we have to many cars in our yards , a beautification ordinance so we cant build certain style homes in certain places , and or regulations about water and land use that will effect just about every farmer in the county . We have been there done that and voted that bunch out !
( VP ) They will protect the air we breathe and water we drink so we can experience sustained prosperity in our county without despoiling our environment.
In addition they want our schools and community to compete to be among the best and they understand the value of investing in our people.
( GM ) Really , does she not know we already have some of the best schools for a county in the state and that our current commissioners have already found funds to help our schools where the state had to cut funds to balance the budget democrats spent to the hilt ? I didn’t know that Chatham County commissioners had to do the job of the EPA either ,, separate the two and let them do their respective jobs please .
( VP ) We need leaders who will not equivocate about our hispanic community or the contentious issue of hydraulic fracturing or fracking .
Howard, Hales and Crawford oppose fracking and will fight for our county, while the GOP has clearly pursued the agenda of forcing this industry upon Chatham and Lee county.
( GM ) DUH !! Our current commissioners are looking at possible zoning and other options to make it very difficult to fracture in Chatham . Not one democrat or republican in this county wants fracking . As far as the Hispanic community goes we need to pass a regulation that they must speak fluent English before holding a job in Chatham period . This is the USA and our official language is English not spanglish , not meximerican , not any other dialect than plain clearly spoken English . I’m not racist so don’t even go there as I have friends who legally immigrated to the USA and took time to not only learn our language correctly but to actually get a drivers license and have valid insurance . I’m sick of going to a fast food joint and trying to speak a foreign language just to get a cheeseburger ! As far as forcing industry on Chatham I remember what democrats did the last time with all their beatification ordinances and regulations , they ran off business that employed chathamites . Tourism , arts and bike trails wont create jobs to employ enough of the unemployed in this county . We need real jobs , good paying skilled jobs so people don’t have to work three or four unskilled minimum wage jobs just to buy food and keep their homes warm and clothes on their kids .
( VP ) In conclusion, for commissioners who will invest heavily in a great education system, dynamic and vital downtown districts, arts, culture, travel, tourism, recreation, training, transit and the Economic Development while opposing fracking vote for Howard, Hales and Crawford.

( GM ) The whole Chatham democratic party platform is based on three things . Firstly fooling the voters with fancy words and speeches into thinking that their candidates will create a big positive CHANGE .( We all see how well that worked last time ). Secondly making any local GOP candidate look bad by GOP top party mistakes and inaction . Lastly they seam to feel that their vision is the right one for everyone period and that’s dangerous . Marxist and socialist liberal extreme left all feel big government is the answer and buying votes with offers of free stuff at the expense of all is the answer to utopia . They talk about redistributing the wealth and a mandatory raise in minimum wage and all that does is make everyone poorer and less likely to actually get ahead in life . You get ahead by hard work , real jobs and conservative use of your resources not by letting everyone else pull you along because you feel entitled to a free ride . Minimum wage equals minimal skills , minimal education and minimal effort . Yes it hard work and to get past minimal wage you have to become educated or skilled in a certain field . Its not economically feasible to pay $15 an hour to flip hamburgers, pour coffee or stack boxes and fill up shelves in an art store . We need real jobs that pay good wages in this county . I’m sorry Virginia there is no Santa Claus and no utopia unless you build it yourself with hard work and real jobs that pay more than a coffee shop or art store . My point of view is from being a former conservative democrat. I can say I have seen the light and the lies of the current democratic party .. Its all smoke an mirrors to paint a picture of utopia at our expense and I’m done with it . I’m an independent thinker now and I feel everyone else should be too . Don’t follow a specific party blindly , vote for what you want from the one candidate who reflects your personal point of view . I’m not attacking all democrats nor supporting all republicans . I’m going to vote for what I feel is right for me and that is for the current commissioners to continue to create new jobs and opportunities in this county . Goodnite Mark
