Parenting Classes in Siler City for parents of 3-6 year-olds
Fall 2014 Incredible Years parent education classes will start September 16 & 17 and will be at the Head Start Center in Siler City.
Course start dates:
Sept. 16, 2014 – English – Chatham County Head Start in Siler City (Tuesdays)
Sept. 17, 2014 – Spanish – Chatham County Head Start in Siler City (Wednesdays)
*All classes run 5:30-8pm.
The course is free, and is for parents/caregivers of children 3 through 6 years old. Parents must be registered ahead of time and commit to attending the entire 16 week course. Parents living in counties other than Orange and Chatham county ARE eligible to attend. Classes are in the evenings, 5:30-8pm and include dinner and high quality child care. Transportation within county is also available upon request.
Incredible Years is an evidence-based curriculum, teaching specific relationship-based skills through discussion, role-plays, video vignettes, and weekly practice. Participants learn about positive parenting strategies such as: prioritizing play with their children, offering praise and rewards, creating household rules and setting limits, and using positive discipline strategies.
Referrals for 2014-15 are being accepted through September 5! Parents can refer themselves or be referred by a provider. Referral/intake sheet attached. Referrals accepted via fax, email, and phone. Parents who are referred will be contacted by IY Leaders, and those who are an appropriate fit for classes will then be notified and registered.
