Subject: There is NO increase in the Chatham County sales tax rate
I read the article about the teacher pay increase at http://www.newsobserver.com/
In the article it says “County commissioners said increased county sales tax revenue will pay for the program’s projected $575,000 cost.”
From what I see the Chatham County commisioners are able to fund the addtional teachers pay because Chatham County has collected MORE sales tax revenue.
There is NO increase in the Chatham County sales tax rate.
I hope our commissioners continue to spend our money wisely. It’s nice to be able to give our teachers and county employees pay raises without raising our taxes.
I know I have made an effort to keep my sales tax dollars in Chatham County.
The new Bojangles in Pittsboro and the WalMart on our side of the Orange County line certainly help. 🙂
