Subject: I suspect they have deadened hearing
I’m appalled at the lack of compassion and empathy that some people have exhibited regarding the issue of a shooting range next door to Siglinda’s Goathouse Refuge. I suspect they have deadened hearing.
All of us humans and animals who have extremely sensitive ears know how extraordinarily painful it is to have a gun shot go off or an electric guitar scream in the airwaves nearby. Numerous young people have definitely suffered hearing loss from the latter. Ear plugs only slightly muffle the high-range wailing, but do nothing to the low-pitch range impact on all parts of the body that drums and basses impinge. Those of you who have deadened ears don’t understand what it’s like for a dog or goat or sensitive musician to experience gunshots or highly amplified sounds. There is no way to muffle except to just leave the area…and that’s what we do.
I’m appalled as well that a shooting range near farms and private homes wouldn’t use mufflers or silencers on their guns. The gun “kick” would be the same and the need to practice accuracy would also be the same. So why not help both their range AND the sensitive animals nearby? Win-win is so much better than win-lose.
I cringe also at “it is what it is” statements. That’s merely a different way of saying “quit complaining” and “don’t you dare do anything about it.” Like I said in the paragraph above, how about putting silencers or some other form of muffler on the guns?
