Subject: rule on dog houses
The requirement of a solid floor RAISED OFF the ground bothers me.
When driving down the road in the winter, where is the most danger on the road subject to ice conditions?
The bridge. Why? Because it allows the circulation under the roadway of cold air and so allows the bridge road to get colder sooner then the roadway on top of the earth which is why the bridges ice before the roads.
In our homes, the crawl space is inclosed for that very same reason. To prevent the cold air from circulating under our homes (floors) and so freeze our pipes plus the cold air under the home makes the house colder A dog house raised off the ground without enclosed dead air space under the floor, is NOT the best place for the dog to sleep in the winter months.
