First, the creek surrounding half of Pittsboro and emptying into Jordan Lake is Robeson Creek. I believe that there are still some Robesons here.
Another point I wish to endorse is the debate, subtle or not so subtle, on the chatlist. We have such a privilege to participate in it because of this medium. Chatham Park is an important issue. Life here will be changed tremendously. I have learned valid things because of the debater’s points. So let the topic run its course. There is yet ground to cover beyond the repetitions.
We debate in shorter periods on lots of topics. Who does good work. Who does not. Where to buy products or services and where not. All are good exchange whatever their value is to readers.
Further, anonymous posters deserve as much respect as anyone else. I honor their right to keep their names silent. I have no problem identifying myself. But I have also suffered the slings and arrows of opposition, name calling and worse, acts of hidden sabotage from those who are intolerant and vindictive. Such is life. But I do not hide in the shadows ashamed of myself for pulling such destructive and cowardly stunts. I honor the first amendment and believe that it should be exercised for a free society to exist..
As I express freely my points of view, I respect those who do also, however far apart our opinions. The fact that someone chooses to endorse Chatham Park does not mean that they are working for Preston Development Company. It does not mean that they receive or will receive any money or benefit from the company. It is possible that their views are derived from experience and from their belief that good development will benefit everyone in one way or another. So I do not label these anonymous posters cowards, shylocks, sell outs or stupid. They may simply wish to avoid public derision and some harm caused by gossipers and back stabbers.
I am thankful for this means of sharing and holding public debate. Carry on, Gene. Great job.
